Ruboni Community Camp gives visitors a chance to explore the natural beauty at the foothills of the Mountains of the Moon while also providing comfort for hikers preparing for their climb.
The camp is owned by local people who are believed to have lived in this area for over 300 years. On arrival, the staff can organize village walks where you meet local residents, learn about their way of life, and even take part in daily activities.
The camp is well located, with rooms that face the snow-capped peaks of the Rwenzori Mountains. It has private rooms and three self-contained bandas, each with a balcony where you can sit and enjoy coffee or tea.
The bandas are furnished with clean bedding, simple furniture, indoor bathrooms, and mosquito nets, which are especially useful during the wet season when mosquitoes are many. Hot showers are also provided to make your stay comfortable.
A restaurant near the camp serves meals prepared by experienced chefs using fresh, locally sourced ingredients from the camp’s garden or nearby markets in western Uganda. The dishes include both local and international meals.
The camp welcomes visitors of all budgets, budget, mid-range, or luxury with prices higher in the dry season and lower in the wet season. Hiking activities may be harder or unsafe during heavy rains, but the camp also organizes simpler activities such as bird watching. In the evenings, campfires are lit to provide warmth and space for guests to share stories.
Filming and photography are possible in both wet and dry seasons, giving you a chance to capture views of the bamboo forest, streams, birds, and landscapes.
